Opening Day!

Major League Baseball Opening Day is a huge deal in Cincinnati. Cincinnati is the home to the first ever professional baseball team. It is with that proud heritage, the entire city of Cincinnati celebrates the opening of a new baseball season. I know other cities celebrate their teams opening days, but nothing like in Cincinnati. It is nearly a full out holiday.

I always look forward to the start of the season. I am a Cincinnati Reds fan and each year begins with the hopes of a championship. It is on this day that every team feels that they have a shot at going to the World Series.

Who knows what will happen to the 2009 Cincinnati Reds, but today, Opening Day, they are contenders to win it all! Go Reds!

Go Cubs!

I didn't know the reds were the first major league team. Who was the second?

Rob, I am not sure. I was thinking that is was the Chicago White Stockings, but I could be wrong about that.

nice. Rob made me aware we each posted on baseball opening day. i am a Dbacks fan. not expecting too much this year, but can't wait to catch a game. Been to about 5 college games so far. much more cost effective.

Brian, I have only been to a couple college games and I really enjoyed them. What I tend to go to and love are minor league games. It is so much easier on the budget and you can always sit close to the field.

Another special identity for Ohio and Cincinnati in particular. Along with Chocolate coated potato chips, Cincinnati Chili, Butter Jesus, Graeter ice Cream, and the Burggrafs, you have the Cincinnati Reds--quite a line-up. Go Cubs!

I had never heard of Opening Day until I moved to Cincinnati. The first time the Opening Day parade passed by the school I was teaching at and the kids raced to the window to watch, I was a little bewildered.

I do enjoy the minor league games! Especially the Altuna (sp?) Curve games that have tv's in the stands. I know they're for watching the game and hearing the commentary, but I watched the food network while I ate my hot dog and Scott watched the live game. It was great! Everyone was happy!
