My favorite basketball player of all time is Bobby Hurley. Hurley was the point guard for Duke from 1989-1993. He played in 3 National Championship games, won 2 of them, and was named the tournaments Most Outstanding Player in 1992.
Even with all of those accomplishments, it is a different record he holds that makes him my favorite player. Bobby Hurley is the all time, NCAA assist leader with 1076 (An assist is a stat you get when your pass directly leads to your teammate scoring a basket). To me, that means Bobby Hurley was the ultimate team player.
He did score lots of points (1731) in his college career, however, it was his selflessness, in giving up his own shot to get a better shot for his teammate, that made those Duke teams of the early 90's so great.
Because of his hard work, toughness, and team first attitude, Bobby Hurley will go down as, in my opinion, the greatest point guard to ever play college basketball.
(March Madness update: Duke won! Yesterday, I went 7 - 1 in my brackets. Much better then the two days before. See my updated bracket below. Today, Xavier plays Wisconsin to try to reach the sweet 16.)

Interesting how much more than the score you get out of keeping up with these teams.
