My wife's parents are in town for the weekend and, last night, we decided to order pizza for dinner. We were trying to decide on what to order. After we had chosen what pizza we wanted, Sarah's dad asked if we should get something to eat with the pizza. I mentioned that we could get some chips to go along with the pizza, which they laughed at. They said that they have never heard of eating potato chips as a side to your pizza. What?
I really didn't know that eating chips with pizza was an odd thing. I didn't even think it was an Ohio only thing. I just thought it was normal. I am not saying that I always eat chips when I am eating pizza, but I don't think it is that unusual. Besides, if it was that odd, then why would the pizza place sell chips?
I need your help. Please let me know if eating chips with pizza is a fairly normal thing to do or if I am some crazy nut job. The way they laughed at me, my wife and in-laws are leaning toward labeling me a nut job. My Mother-in-law, Marcia, tried to come to my defense, but my wife and Father-in-law were having nothing to do with it. So, please, let me know your take on eating potato chips along side your pizza.

Pizza and chips go together like
mashed potatoes and gravy. You have my vote for pizza and chips
I think that's an Ohio thing bro. I've never heard of it. And I didn't know pizza places sold chips. I've heard of them selling wings, but not chips. I'm not against trying it, but I don't think it's normal. It's not like you said pizza and mayo. Now that would be crazy.
Your father-in-law and I were still dicussing this issue on the way home. I still maintain that while the Shepherds' don't think of chips and pizza going together like burgers and fries, it is not that unusual to have a bowl of chips on the table when ordering pizza. I know I am in the minority among Shepherds, but who does most of the planning of meals--ME. It's not dumb, or even that unusual.
Scott, sorry if I came down too strong on the pizza and chips debate. But rest assured you have opened up a new taste treat for the Shepherds even if it may be more of an Ohio thing.I think any state that produced you and our grandsons is great. We sure enjoyed the weekend visit.
It's not an Ohioan thing at all, and I think pizza and chips is quite a normal thing. Actually we just ate that combination last night! We have to culturalize those Virginians you know :)(although I'm a Southerner, too!).
Wendy, I have to agree that we are the "normal" ones that eat chips with our pizza. Maybe it is a Virginia only thing not to eat chips with your pizza. That must be the case! :)
OK Scott and Wendy . . . although the Shepherd's have lived in Virginia for the past 18 years, we're not really "from" there. We've lived all over the world and have never seen that before.
